Perhaps it’s all the local activities.

Strolling along the miles of safe sandy swimming beaches, Motu river jet-boating, exploring historic Opotiki and its museum (one of the best in NZ), a mountain bike ride on the Motu Trails Cycleway, a round of golf or a lazy day fishing.

Otherwise jump in your car for a short scenic day trip to Whakatane – just 40 minutes’ drive where’s there plenty of shopping, cafés and Ohope Beach.  For a longer day-trip there’s Gisborne (the world’s most Eastern city and famous for its Chardonnay wine), Rotorua (tourist town with lots of geysers and hot-water) and Tauranga/Mount Maunganui (NZ’s fastest growing commercial city).

Of course the best scenic drive of them all is up the magical East Cape with coastal views, beautiful secluded bays and some of the world’s best fishing. This area has been featured in movies such as ‘Boy’ (Waihau Bay Store – and birth-place of Taika Waititi) and ‘Whale Rider’.

You guessed it, our guests are not even tired of all that!

“A true gem to stay – comfy, peaceful, delightful surrounded in nature with song birds, cheeky funny Weka that wanted to play hide and seek. Close to beaches and Opotiki township, spoilt for choice really. Tidy, clean and comfortable beds has everything you need."
